James Gunn's new take on Superman is set to introduce a fresh cast of characters to the DC Cinematic Universe, including Nathan Fillion's unique portrayal of Green Lantern, Guy Gardner. In a recent interview with TV Guide, Fillion revealed that his version of Gardner will be quite different from previous iterations, describing him as a "jerk." He emphasized that being a Green Lantern doesn't require goodness, just fearlessness, and Gardner embodies this with his selfish and self-serving nature.

Fillion further elaborated on Gardner's overconfidence, suggesting that his character believes he could take on Superman, despite the obvious impossibility. This hubris adds another layer to Gardner's complex personality.

The upcoming Superman film marks the first entry in the rebooted DCU, dubbed "Gods and Monsters." Alongside Superman, the film features David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. James Gunn has written and directed this highly anticipated movie, slated for release on July 11, 2025.

In addition to the film, the Green Lanterns are also the focus of an HBO series titled "Lanterns," set to premiere in 2026. This series will explore other members of the superhero alliance, with Kyle Chandler playing Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre playing John Stewart.

The excitement around these new DC projects is palpable, with fans eager to see how these characters will be brought to life in Gunn's vision of the DC Universe.
