A player known as b00lin waged a 763-day legal battle against Activision, successfully overturning an unfair ban and restoring their Steam reputation. The ordeal began in December 2023 after b00lin played over 36 hours of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta. Initially dismissed as a technical error, Activision refused to lift the ban despite b00lin's reports. Undeterred, b00lin pursued legal action.

Activision, citing security concerns, refused to provide evidence of cheating, even withholding seemingly innocuous information like the name of the flagged software. The case proceeded to court, where Activision's lawyers were unable to present proof of b00lin's wrongdoing, highlighting the company's stringent anti-cheat secrecy. Ultimately, the court ruled in b00lin's favor, ordering Activision to cover legal fees and lift the ban, a victory finally achieved in early 2025.
