In the thrilling world of *Path of Exile 2*, power enhancement is key, and anointing your items is a crucial technique for boosting your character's abilities. This guide will walk you through the process of anointing in *Path of Exile 2*, which becomes available as you progress through the game.

How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2

Anointing your amulets and Waystones requires Distilled Emotions, a resource you'll unlock later in your journey. These are similar to Blight Oils from the original game, and there are ten types: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering. To obtain them, you'll need to delve into Delirium Maps, where completing a map rewards you with a random assortment of Distilled Emotions. Alternatively, you can acquire them through currency exchange or the trade market.

For those looking to upgrade their Distilled Emotions, the Reforging Bench is your go-to. By combining three of the same type, you can create an upgraded version of that emotion, giving you greater control over your anointing choices.

If you're up for a challenge, tackling Simulacrum waves can also yield Distilled Emotions. However, this method is less efficient than Delirium Maps and requires a robust build due to the increased difficulty.

How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2

Currently in Early Access, *Path of Exile 2* allows you to anoint both amulets and Waystones, with potential for more options in the future. To anoint an amulet, start by selecting any Distilled Emotion to open the Instilling window. Place the amulet in the central box, and then add three Distilled Emotions into the boxes at the bottom. The specific emotions needed for the desired anointing ability can be found by hovering over a Notable Passive Skill in the Passive Skill Tree, then pressing alt on your keyboard or R3 on your controller.

The anointing effect on an amulet isn't permanent; you can change it by repeating the process, allowing you to adapt the skill to your evolving build. Similarly, anointing Waystones can make them more challenging but also increase the quality of loot they drop. Remember, neither amulets nor Waystones can be anointed if they are corrupted.

With this knowledge, you're now equipped to enhance your amulets and tackle tougher challenges by anointing Waystones in *Path of Exile 2*, refining your gameplay experience to suit your strategy.

*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
