Ubisoft has unveiled its comprehensive roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a rich array of features including new game+, enhanced difficulty settings, additional story content, and more. The detailed plans were shared in a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video update, which lays out a specific schedule for May and June. Ubisoft's strategy aims to keep the community engaged with regular free updates throughout 2025.
The rollout of content begins in early May with The Works of Luis Frois, the first of several free story add-ons. This update will also bring a Codex enhancement and various quality-of-life improvements, alongside significant parkour additions and a photo mode update. These changes reflect Ubisoft's commitment to incorporating community feedback into future updates for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Community developer Daniel St. Germain emphasized the importance of player feedback in the roadmap video, stating, "Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released. Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms."
In June, players can expect another free story drop, alongside new difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These updates are highly anticipated by the player base, but Ubisoft has more in store, including new game+ support, additional story drops, special collaborations, and more, all slated to arrive before the year ends.
The highlight of the post-launch roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji, set to release later in the year. This expansion will introduce new content such as the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore, spanning a 10-hour journey. While pricing details remain undisclosed, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, marking Ubisoft’s entry into Feudal Japan with its long-running stealth series. The game has already made a significant impact, securing a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and becoming the best-selling game of last month.
