"Black Ops 6 Zombies Season 2 Unveils New Tomb Map and Enhanced Quality-of-Life Updates"

Treyarch is marking 115 Day with a thrilling mystery box of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the unveiling of a brand new map called The Tomb. This January 15 celebration is a highly anticipated event for Call of Duty fans, featuring a comprehensive blog that details all the upcoming zombie-themed surprises. The headline news is the introduction of The Tomb, a sandy new Zombies map set to debut with the launch of Season 2 on January 28. This means that players have just under two weeks to prepare for another exciting addition to the Zombies universe, following the release of Season 1’s Citadelle des Morts.

According to a story summary from Treyarch, "After surviving the horrific events at Citadelle des Morts, Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya follow Gabriel Krafft’s final words to a nearby excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact.” The Tomb is constructed on the remains of ancient burial grounds with origins tracing back to 2500 B.C.E. These catacombs, undisturbed for centuries until the early 1900s, hold secrets that may run deeper than anyone ever imagined.

The team at Treyarch described The Tomb as a mysterious area linked to a British archaeologist named Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, though they've kept the details sparse on how it connects to the broader Zombies narrative. In terms of gameplay, The Tomb is designed to offer an experience similar to Liberty Falls, the vibrant, small-town map that debuted with Black Ops 6 in October. This means players can expect tighter play spaces and a focus on replayability as they uncover the numerous Easter eggs hidden within The Tomb.

Treyarch also hinted at a reimagined Wonder Weapon "inspired by our past" and the return of an iconic SMG, though specifics remain under wraps. Season 2 will also bring a host of quality-of-life improvements, including new features long requested by the community. Players will be able to track up to 10 Calling Card challenges and 10 Camo challenges in both Zombies and Multiplayer. Zombies mode will introduce a co-op pause option, allowing the party leader to pause a match with their friends mid-run. HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be separated in Season 2, and players will also have the ability to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadout if they are disconnected.

To celebrate 115 Day, Black Ops 6 players can enjoy double the GobbleGum earn rate, as well as double player, weapon, and battle pass XP from now through 10am PT January 21. Treyarch also shared some impressive stats related to the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing that players have logged over 480 million hours into Black Ops 6 Zombies. The studio's goal for Directed Mode was to "grow the Zombies community by guiding new players through the Main Quests with some guardrails in place, so they can experience the storyline and hopefully become lifelong Zombies fans." Since its introduction, the average Main Quest completion rate has more than doubled, increasing from 3.38% on November 14 to 8.23% today.
