Cow in Mario Kart World Eats Burgers, Steak

IGN recently had the chance to experience Mario Kart World firsthand at a Nintendo event in New York, and they've confirmed something that's been buzzing around the internet: the new Moo Moo Meadows Cow character can indeed indulge in a variety of foods, including burgers and steak.

For those out of the loop, the buzz started with the announcement of Mario Kart World, which introduced the Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a playable racer. This character, previously a mere background figure in a single Mario Kart track, has now captured the hearts of the internet, spawning countless memes and fanart.

The excitement around Cow took a curious turn when fans noticed a detail in the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer: Mario eating a burger. Given that burgers are typically made from beef, and considering Cow's bovine origins, fans were eager to know whether Cow would partake in beef consumption. The question was finally answered at the Nintendo preview event.

At the event, IGN discovered that food items featured in the trailer, such as burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts, can be obtained at Yoshi's diner locations scattered across the game's courses. These diners operate like drive-thrus, where racers can grab a bag of take-out similar to an item box. And yes, Cow can consume all these items, including the much-discussed burger and steak.

During IGN's session, they observed Cow consuming various other items as well, including the burger. While other racers undergo costume changes upon consuming these items, Cow does not seem to experience any transformations. IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification but has not yet received a response. It's likely because Nintendo is busy with their New York event, rather than any reluctance to address such an, ahem, intriguing query.
