Crafting and Using Gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide

Quick Links

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, there are multiple ways to strengthen your character, and one of the most effective is by using Gems. These powerful accessories can be equipped at any time and provide valuable passive buffs that significantly enhance your performance—especially useful when tackling higher difficulty settings.

You have the ability to not only craft new gems, but also upgrade existing ones. While the system may seem somewhat random at first glance, understanding how it works can help you optimize your gem progression. Below, we explain how to craft and use gems effectively, and how to improve your chances of getting the exact gem you're aiming for.

How To Craft & Level Up Gems In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Gem crafting requires Pyroxene, a resource you’ll gather throughout your journey. You can begin crafting gems at any Inn or tent in the game. Once inside your room, simply select the second option from the top labeled "Create Gems".

From this menu, you can use as much Pyroxene as you'd like—each crystal will craft one gem on a 1:1 ratio. There are five different types of gems available, and each Pyroxene used has an equal chance of producing any one of them.

Once you've crafted a base gem, it will start at Level 1 and can be equipped via the Battle Preparations menu. After you've crafted the first copy of a specific gem, any subsequent duplicates will grant XP toward leveling up that particular gem. As it levels, its effects become stronger.

Unless you're targeting a specific gem type, there's no downside to spending all your Pyroxene at once and letting the upgrades happen randomly across the board.

However, if you prefer more control, there’s a mechanic called "Eyes of the Sacred Bird". This feature activates randomly whenever you craft a single gem and narrows down the pool to just three possible gem types. You can exit and re-enter the crafting menu to reset this effect. Although crafting one gem at a time can feel tedious, doing so increases your chances of triggering "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" for the gem you’re focusing on.

Keep in mind that while this feature reduces randomness, it doesn’t eliminate it completely.

Here are the five types of gems you can craft:

Gem NamePassive Boost
Oblivion GemExpands attack range
Vortex GemBoosts damage to enemies launched into the air
Scorch GemBoosts damage dealt to enemies with parries
Wellspring GemRestores health for every 100 enemies defeated
Ascendance GemActivates a chance to automatically block an attack from an enemy officer

Where To Get Pyroxene In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Pyroxene can be found scattered across the overworld map. They appear as orange crystals sticking out of the ground. Simply interact with them to collect one Pyroxene per crystal.

After completing a Skirmish or Battle, some Pyroxene nodes on the map will respawn, encouraging you to revisit previously explored areas. New crystals frequently appear, making exploration rewarding.

Additionally, you may occasionally receive Pyroxene through letters read in your room at an Inn or tent.

By regularly collecting Pyroxene and mastering the gem crafting system, you'll ensure your warrior stays strong and ready for any challenge the game throws your way.
