Debut Trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth Shows Scarlett Johansson Kicking a Pterosaur, Shooting a Spinosaurus, and Wondering 'What the Hell Are Those?'

Universal unveils the first trailer for Jurassic World: Rebirth, offering a thrilling glimpse into this highly anticipated July release.

The trailer introduces Scarlett Johansson's team, embarking on a mission to a remote island. This island, previously a research facility for the original Jurassic Park, houses dinosaurs deemed too dangerous for the main park. Their objective: to obtain DNA from the three largest dinosaurs to create a life-saving drug. Naturally, things don't go as planned.

Led by action icon Scarlett Johansson, alongside rising star Jonathan Bailey and two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, this action-packed adventure follows a daring team racing against time to collect DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures on land, sea, and air. Also starring Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, the film is directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and scripted by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp.

Five years after Jurassic World Dominion, dinosaurs struggle to adapt to the planet's altered ecology. Surviving populations are confined to isolated equatorial regions with suitable climates. The DNA of the three largest creatures in this tropical biosphere holds the key to a revolutionary life-saving medicine.

Johansson portrays Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operative leading a top-secret mission. Their operation intersects with a civilian family whose boat is capsized by aquatic dinosaurs, stranding them all on the island. There, they uncover a decades-old, shocking secret.

Ali plays Duncan Kincaid, Zora's trusted leader; Jonathan Bailey portrays paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis; Rupert Friend is Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs; and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked family.

The cast also includes Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda as Reuben's family, alongside Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein as members of Zora and Krebs' teams.

Last month, the film's writer confirmed the inclusion of a sequence from the original Jurassic Park novel, omitted from the 1993 film. This sequence, as confirmed by Vanity Fair, depicts Dr. Grant and two children (not featured in this new film) attempting a perilous raft journey through a lagoon, narrowly avoiding a slumbering Tyrannosaurus rex.
