Cross-platform play has revolutionized online gaming, uniting the Call of Duty community. However, crossplay isn't without its drawbacks. This guide explains how to disable crossplay in Black Ops 6 and weighs the pros and cons.
Disabling crossplay in Black Ops 6 presents a trade-off. Many players disable it for a perceived fairer playing field, particularly console players who want to avoid competing against PC players. PC players generally have the advantage of superior aiming precision with mouse and keyboard controls. Furthermore, the prevalence of cheats and hacks, despite anti-cheat measures like Ricochet, motivates some to disable crossplay to minimize encounters with cheaters.
The primary disadvantage is a significantly smaller player pool for matchmaking. This can lead to longer wait times to find matches and potentially poorer connection quality with other players.

Disabling crossplay is simple. Locate the Crossplay and Crossplay Communications toggle within the Account & Network settings. Toggle the setting from "On" to "Off" using the X or A button. This can be done from within Black Ops 6, Warzone, or the main Call of Duty menu. Note that the image shows the setting added to Quick Settings for easier access.
You may find the crossplay setting temporarily grayed out and unavailable. In certain modes, such as Ranked Play, Call of Duty has previously mandated crossplay. While intended to promote fairness, this often had the opposite effect. Fortunately, Season 2 of Black Ops 6 offers players more control over crossplay in high-stakes modes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is currently available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
