Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: A Blend of Manly Drama and Hilarious Chaos
RGG Studio promises a unique mix of serious storytelling and over-the-top comedy in its upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This latest installment will feature a "manly drama" centered around Goro Majima, but with the signature Yakuza flair.
While the series is renowned for its humor, director Masayoshi Yokoyama reveals a different side to Majima. He'll adopt a "more serious" demeanor, particularly at the story's outset. Producer Ryosuke Horii elaborates, emphasizing the core "manly drama" driving Majima's pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forges along the way. While acknowledging the game's comedic elements, Horii stresses that the narrative focuses on Majima's passionate journey. He highlights Majima's unique qualities, differentiating him from series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, making him the ideal lead for this wilder, reality-bending adventure. The developers aimed for a balance between the pirate theme, Majima's personality, and the overall Like a Dragon essence.
The team consciously avoided a predictable storyline, opting for a more "wild" yet grounded narrative.
To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival across six Japanese cities. The tour, which began in Sapporo on December 1st, 2024, concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii promises an unforgettable pirate adventure with action-packed combat, naval battles, a vibrant cast, and a compelling story. It launches on February 21st for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
