Exciting news for fans of the iconic strategy game, *ROME: Total War* on Android! Feral Interactive has just rolled out the massive Imperium Update, bringing a slew of gameplay enhancements, control improvements, and quality-of-life features to your mobile experience. If you've been diving into this classic since its Android release in 2018, you're in for a treat with these new additions. And don't worry if you're a fan of the standalone expansions, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander—the same update will be gracing those titles next week.
The Imperium Update incorporates some of the standout features from Feral's more recent mobile offerings, such as *Total War: MEDIEVAL II* and *EMPIRE*. One of the key enhancements is the introduction of three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These additions grant you more precise control over your units, making battles smoother and more strategic. Now, you can easily move your army, agents, or fleets by simply tapping and holding, eliminating the need to drag paths manually.
With Positioning Mode, you can fine-tune the placement of your units by tapping and holding, enhancing your tactical positioning. The Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups with a handy collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode allows your ranged units to seamlessly switch to close combat when the situation calls for it.
A significant change is the introduction of Command Slowdown, which automatically slows the game when you're issuing complex orders, giving you more time to make critical decisions. Additionally, for the first time, keyboard and mouse support has been added for Android (and iPad), offering a more traditional gaming experience on your mobile device.
The minimap has also been revamped to resemble the one found in *MEDIEVAL II*, featuring smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows you to quickly return to the default view, enhancing your overall gameplay experience.
The Imperium Update is now live and ready for you to download on the Google Play Store if you own *ROME: Total War* on Android. Keep an eye out for the updates to Barbarian Invasion and Alexander coming next week, and don't miss out on these exciting improvements.
