Uncover the Secrets of Diablo 4's Forgotten Altars and Lost Powers
The Season of the Maelstrom introduces Witchcraft Powers in Diablo 4, reminiscent of magic systems in series like Harry Potter and The Witcher. Mastering these powers requires dedication, and a key element is discovering the elusive Forgotten Altars. This guide details their location and the potent Lost Powers they unlock.
The Witchcraft system features three core categories: Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay, each representing a distinct magical discipline. To gain access, you must earn favor with The Coven by completing specific tasks and gathering Restless Rot. This progress allows you to upgrade Altars near the Tree of Whispers. However, the Forgotten Altars offer a unique path to power.
Unlike the standard Altars with fixed locations, Forgotten Altars appear randomly within Sanctuary's dungeons. This requires exploration and some degree of grinding, but the rewards are substantial. The Lost Powers they grant are among the game's most powerful abilities, making the search worthwhile. Since the seasonal questline already involves dungeon exploration, you may stumble upon them naturally.
Finding all Forgotten Altars unlocks the following Lost Powers:
Power Name | Effect |
---|---|
Breath of the Coven | Applying a Crowd Control or damage effect with any Witchcraft effect boosts Attack Speed by X for 10 seconds, stacking per unique effect. At Rank 8: 40% Lucky Hit chance when Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay bonuses are active. |
Hex Specialization | Increases the potency of Hex effects by X. At Rank 10: 10% increased Critical Strike Chance against Hexed enemies. |
Aura Specialization | Increases the size of Aura effects by X. At Rank 10: 50% increased Critical Strike Damage against enemies within Aura effects. |
Piranhado | When an enemy is affected by both a Hex and an Aura, a Piranhado is summoned, dealing X Physical damage over 12 seconds and pulling in nearby enemies. Occurs once every 20 seconds. At Rank 5: Piranhado actively seeks enemies. |
Remember that once unlocked, these powers can be upgraded in your inventory using Restless Rot. Complete quests diligently to acquire the necessary resources.
