The iconic Master Chief, the face of the Halo franchise (even if hidden behind a helmet), is a highly sought-after skin in Fortnite. His return to the item shop after a two-year hiatus was met with excitement, but a controversy quickly arose.

Initially, a special Matte Black style was offered exclusively to players using Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as permanently obtainable. Therefore, the abrupt announcement of its removal caused significant backlash.

Some disgruntled fans believed this action violated legal agreements and even began organizing a potential class-action lawsuit. However, Epic Games swiftly reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X console.
