Acquiring the Flare Knife

The Flare Knife is surprisingly accessible early in the game. Once you achieve Level 003 Code Clearance, visit Zakka in The Warren. Zakka's inventory includes the Flare Knife, purchasable for 3,000 Entitlement Points. Equip it via the Loadout menu in the Personal Responsibility Portal, selecting an available Combat Item slot.

Utilizing the Flare Knife

The Flare Knife is a reusable tool specifically designed for severing Abductor limbs. This offers an alternative for players favoring Polearms or Heavy Melee weapons, eliminating the need for Light Melee weapons to achieve this crucial tactic. However, remember it's a single-use item per operation; repurchase is necessary for subsequent engagements.

To use, lock onto a severable Abductor part. Use your Thorn to grapple onto the target area. With the Flare Knife equipped, a severing option will appear. A quick-time event (QTE) will initiate, requiring rapid button mashing. Successful completion severs the limb. Be aware that Abductors may attempt to interrupt the process by leaping or crashing into walls.
