Industry insider AusilMV, known for accurate game leaks, has hinted that Season 5 of MultiVersus could be its final season if it fails to perform well. A source close to the development team reportedly indicated that Season 5 is a last-ditch attempt to revive the game's flagging popularity. The game's initial launch in 2022 saw explosive success, peaking at 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, a dramatic 99% player drop followed shortly after, leading Warner Bros. Games to shut down the project in June 2023, controversially labeling it an "open beta test." A relaunch with updates occurred in May 2024, but the game hasn't regained its initial momentum.
