The excitement surrounding Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 continues to build, with insights from GTA 5 actor Ned Luke adding fuel to the fire. In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke, who voiced Michael De Santa in GTA 5, shared his thoughts on the upcoming game and made a bold prediction about its sales.
Ned Luke confidently predicts that GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion on its first day of sales. He praised Rockstar Games for their ability to surprise and delight fans with each new release. "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing," Luke stated. He pointed out that GTA 5, upon its release in 2013, earned over $800 million in its first 24 hours, and he believes GTA 6 will surpass those numbers significantly.
According to DFC Intelligence, a research company, GTA 6 is projected to sell over 40 million copies and earn $3.2 billion in its first year, with $1 billion coming solely from pre-orders. This sets the stage for an unprecedented launch in the gaming industry.
Luke also discussed the potential for GTA 5 characters to make appearances in GTA Online and possibly in GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, has not been featured in GTA Online since its inception, unlike Trevor and Franklin, who have made appearances. Luke hinted at the possibility of Michael showing up in a rumored final DLC for GTA Online or even in GTA 6 itself.
Steven Ogg, the actor who played Trevor in GTA 5, shared his vision for Trevor's role in GTA 6 during an interview with ScreenRant in January 2025. He suggested a dramatic "passing the torch" moment where Trevor could be killed early in the game. Despite the enthusiasm from both actors, no official confirmation has been given about the return of these beloved characters in GTA 6.
"Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy," Luke remarked, highlighting the secretive nature of Rockstar Games.
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests that GTA 6 is currently in its in-house testing phase. In a now-deleted video interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, York emphasized the game's unique nature and its unpredictable open-world dynamics. "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't," he explained.
York believes that the development team is still fine-tuning the game and adding final touches. He speculated that the game is likely playable at this stage, with many testers having already gone through it. Rockstar Games unveiled the first trailer for GTA 6 in December 2023, but since then, they have remained tight-lipped about further details.
While a Fall 2025 release was suggested in Take-Two Interactive's 2024 Financial Report, no specific release date has been officially announced. Fans are eagerly awaiting more information, and the anticipation continues to grow.
