Guide: Accessing Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been a point of interest on the town map, though it remained inaccessible until the game's March 2025 update. Now, players can finally delve into this mysterious region and meet Caldarus, a key figure in the game. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to access the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Unlocking the Deep Woods in *Fields of Mistria* requires breaking the Fire Seal and using the Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the obstructing vines. To break the Fire Seal, you must place four items on the Priestess’ altar at Floor 60 of the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items can be found between floors 50 and 59. To obtain the Sealing Scroll, you'll need to collaborate with Juniper and Balor. To help Balor procure the scroll, leave the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

After meeting these requirements, speak to Balor again, and he'll inform you that the scroll will arrive the next day. Once you have the scroll, you can complete the offering at the altar.

Typically, breaking magic seals results in a few closing words from the mysterious mines Priestess, unlocking a new biome. However, this time, things don't go as planned. The Priestess urges you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health diminishes, Caldarus appears in his human form to aid you, then retreats to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength.

Caldarus then requests you to find him in his temple, gifting you the Dragon’s Breath spell. This spell is essential for burning through the vines blocking the entrance to the Deep Woods and other previously inaccessible areas. To use Dragon’s Breath, equip it from the pause menu and activate it in front of the area's entrance. This action will permanently unlock the Deep Woods and other regions.

How To Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can locate Caldarus within his temple in the Deep Woods. The temple is situated to the north of the Eastern Road on your map. Accessing this area requires the Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the path. Caldarus' exact location is marked on the map like other NPCs, found in the northeast corner of the Deep Woods.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods and head right, using your axe to chop down a stump blocking your way. Continue north until you arrive at the temple. Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods area is unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to the Deep Woods for just 10 Essence. This convenient method saves time compared to traveling on foot or horseback. Additionally, you can still interact with Caldarus through his statue, albeit in spirit.
