In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the "Canker" side quest is an engaging early-game activity that you can unlock after completing "The Jaunt." This quest not only offers the chance to acquire a mace but also some extra Groschen, making it a worthwhile endeavor. Here’s a detailed guide on how to successfully complete "Canker."

To initiate the "Canker" quest, you need to have a conversation with Gules at Semine. A convenient time to start this quest is during the wedding of Lord Semine and Agnes, where you can find Gules drinking and ready to talk. However, the quest is also available before the wedding if you visit Semine and speak to Gules while he’s on patrol. During your conversation, inquire about his past association with bandits and express your willingness to help him eliminate them. Canker, a former bandit, becomes your first target.

Upon accepting the quest, Canker's location will be marked on your map, north of Nebakov Mill. Be cautious as the path to this location is prone to ambushes by bandits. You can choose to avoid them through stealth, engage in combat, or simply flee. While these random bandits are usually not a significant challenge, it's best to avoid unnecessary fights to conserve your health for the upcoming battle.
Canker's camp is nestled in the mountainous terrain, and accessing it can be tricky. You need to navigate through a narrow gap, similar to the path leading to the Hermit's house during the "Wedding Crashers" quest. Prepare for combat as you'll face several bandits alongside Canker. Some of these bandits might flee during the fight, but it's crucial to eliminate most of them. Canker, however, will not flee, ensuring you can complete the quest by killing him.
After defeating Canker and his gang, loot Canker's body to obtain the Light Mace, which serves as proof of your success. Feel free to take any other items from him as well. Once you have the mace, head back to Gules to officially complete the "Canker" quest.
After completing "Canker," you'll need to wait a full in-game day before you can pick up the next related quest, "Handsome Charlie." Simply talk to Gules again once the day has passed to continue your journey with his former bandit associates.
