Guide: Completing the Straw Hat Side Quest in KCD2

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, some quests can only be initiated once you reach Kuttenberg. Once there, you're free to travel between regions and dive into new adventures. Here's a detailed guide on how to complete the "Under the Straw Hat" quest.

How to Unlock ‘Under the Straw Hat’ in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Before embarking on "Under the Straw Hat," you must first initiate the "In Vino Veritas" side quest, which unfolds in Kuttenberg. Upon your arrival, locate Casper Rudolf on the west side of the city, where he's enticing passersby with free wine samples. Casper's goal is to enhance his wine, and he needs your help to gather crucial information.

You have two paths to acquire the necessary wine knowledge. You can directly approach Havel and impress him with your wine expertise, or you can retrieve Casper's book from Adleta, read it, and then approach Havel. If you choose to meet Havel directly, ensure you're dressed in fancy attire and well-groomed. When conversing with Havel, select "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It’s missing ginger" as your responses to extract the information Casper needs. Return to Casper with your findings.

Access the Vineyard

Casper then tasks you with infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to learn more about the incense Havel mentioned. Avoid wandering into the fields, as this counts as trespassing. Instead, follow the main road into the vineyard and speak to the recruiter, who will introduce you to the "Under the Straw Hat" quest in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. Continue along the road, passing a guard to enter the estate area, and locate Jerome on a bench. Inform Jerome that you've been instructed to report there, and he will brief you on your duties at the vineyard.

Working at the Vineyard

Your work at the vineyard starts the following day. Spend the night at the inn or any resting spot, and return to the vineyard in the morning. To earn your wages, you must move sacks to their designated spots and harvest plants like Thistle around the vines. Alternatively, you can bypass these tasks and head straight to the wine cellar for the secret incense.

The wine cellar, located downstairs in the main building from where you met Jerome, remains off-limits even to workers, so be cautious to avoid detection and punishment. Access the cellar using a lockpick or by stealing the keys from Jerome. Inside the cellar, locate a chest and take all the Sulphur Wicks within it, completing the main objective. For an increased reward, also pick up five seedlings found across the building from the entrance. Be quick, as this is another trespassing zone.

If you perform your vineyard duties, collect your pay from Jerome at the end of the day. Otherwise, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks and, if you've collected them, the seedlings.

Successfully completing these steps will mark the completion of both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. You can then proceed to other engaging side quests like "Master Schindel’s Toys."
