Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlockables and Playstyles

Hyper Light Breaker offers a diverse roster of characters, each with unique playstyles. This guide covers all currently available characters and how to unlock them in the early access version.

Unlocking New Characters

To unlock new characters, you need Abyss Stones, which drop from Crowns (bosses). First, locate Prisms (golden diamond icons on the map) to access boss arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method; the process for unlocking future characters may differ.

All Characters and SyComs

Each character starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core perk, significantly impacting their playstyle.

Vermillion

Vermillion's default SyCom is Gunslinger, favoring ranged combat with a crit-boosting mechanic. His unlockable Tank SyCom enhances his melee capabilities and defense through perfect parries.

Lapis

Lapis begins with Lightweaver, a ranged SyCom that boosts Rail shot damage after collecting Batteries. Her unlockable Warrior SyCom increases core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful late-game.

Goro

Goro is a ranged character whose Astrologer SyCom accelerates Blade skill charging while shooting. His unlockable Sniper SyCom significantly increases critical hit rate, making him a high-risk, high-reward option. He's a glass cannon, dealing high damage but lacking defensive capabilities.
