Beloved Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and numerous other titles, has shared a moving message following a serious health scare. Last week, he was found "barely alive" in his Atlanta hotel room, where he was attending a National Alzheimer's Foundation benefit.
A GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised an impressive $174,653 for medical expenses and other bills, features a video message from Johnson himself. He reveals he was in a coma.
"The rumors of my demise were greatly exaggerated," Johnson states in the video. "It was very close, but I'm still here." He credits his wife, Kim Johnson, and son for their quick actions in contacting the hotel and ensuring he received immediate medical attention. He was subsequently placed in a medically induced coma for five days.
Johnson expresses deep gratitude for the outpouring of support, specifically mentioning the GoFundMe organized by friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker, and Kim. He also thanks the National Alzheimer's Association for supporting his family, Ted Leonsis (chairman of the Washington Capitals' parent company) for a significant $25,000 donation, and Bethesda for their public show of support. He concludes with heartfelt thanks to fans for their donations and well wishes.
"I love you all. I'm not going anywhere," he assures his supporters. "It's going to be a while, but I'm coming back."
Johnson's extensive voice acting credits span video games, film, and television, but he is most recognized for his contributions to the Bethesda universe. His roles include Ron Hope in Starfield, Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in Oblivion, several Daedric Princes in Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4, among many others.
