Second Life's Mobile Beta is Now Live (Premium Access Only)

The popular social MMO, Second Life, has launched its public beta on iOS and Android. Download it now from the App Store and Google Play.

However, access is currently limited to Premium subscribers. While this might disappoint those hoping for a free trial, the beta release marks a significant step forward for the mobile version, promising a faster flow of information and updates.

For those unfamiliar, Second Life is a pioneering MMO that predates the current metaverse hype. Instead of combat or exploration, it emphasizes social interaction and user-created content. Players create avatars and engage in a vast virtual world, role-playing and interacting in countless ways. Launched in 2003, it's considered a precursor to many modern social gaming concepts.

A Late Entry into the Mobile Market?

Will its mobile debut revitalize the platform or prove to be a final, fading attempt at relevance? Only time will tell.
