Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, developed by MachineGames and published by Xbox's Bethesda, is set to expand its reach beyond Xbox Series X/S and PC. Reports suggest that a PlayStation 5 version will be available in the first half of 2025, following its initial release on Xbox platforms later this year.
Recent reports indicate that the highly anticipated action-adventure game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, is poised to launch on the PS5 in the first half of 2025. This follows its debut on Xbox Series X/S and PC during the 2024 holiday season. Industry insider Nate the Hate, known for his accurate insights into Microsoft's multi-platform strategies, has stated that the game will be a timed console exclusive for Xbox before making its way to the PS5.
"MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will release on Xbox & PC this holiday (Dec) as a timed console exclusive. After this timed-exclusive window expires, Indiana Jones & the Great Circle is planned to come to PlayStation 5 in the first half of 2025," Nate the Hate shared on Twitter (X).
These claims have been corroborated by Insider Gaming, which mentioned that several media outlets have been briefed on this under non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
Microsoft and Xbox have been exploring the possibility of broadening the availability of their major titles to other platforms. Earlier reports from The Verge highlighted that Bethesda and Microsoft were contemplating bringing games like Indiana Jones and Starfield to platforms like the PlayStation. Despite initial exclusivity agreements following Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, there are signs that the company is willing to share select flagship titles with competing platforms.
This strategy aligns with Xbox's "Xbox Everywhere" initiative, which has already seen titles such as Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded released on rival platforms. There appears to be no strict "red line" preventing future Xbox first-party games from being launched on PlayStation.
Fans eager for more details on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle can look forward to Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the event promises a deeper dive into the game and may reveal its release date, alongside other major titles such as COD: Black Ops 6, MH Wilds, Civ 7, Marvel Rivals, and Dune: Awakening.
