Excitement is building as DC's next blockbuster, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*, has officially started filming. To mark this milestone, DC head James Gunn shared an intriguing first glimpse of Milly Alcock, known from *House of the Dragon*, in her role as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. In a post on Bluesky, Gunn not only announced the start of production but also shared a captivating photo of Alcock seated in her actor's chair, offering fans a tantalizing sneak peek at the character.

Gunn expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El." This confirms that Gillespie, renowned for directing *Cruella* and *I, Tonya*, will steer the ship for this eagerly awaited film, as previously reported in April.

While details are scarce, we know that *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* draws significant inspiration from the acclaimed graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. The novel follows the gripping tale of an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's aid to avenge her father's murder by the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills. Nominated for "Best Limited Series" at the 2022 Eisner Awards, this story is a must-read for any comic enthusiast.

Joining the cast are Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem and Eve Ridley as Ruthye. Other notable cast members include David Krumholtz portraying Supergirl's father, Zor-El, Emily Beecham as her mother, and Jason Momoa, who has been recast in the DC universe as the iconic character Lobo.

*Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* marks the second film in the newly revamped DC universe, following James Gunn's *Superman*, set to hit theaters this summer. Other projects in development include *The Batman Part II*, which may or may not connect to Gunn's broader cinematic universe, and a rumored *Clayface* movie directed by Mike Flanagan.
