Leak: Ubisoft is developing Rainbow Six Siege 2 with improved graphics

A recent leak from an insider, "fraxiswinning," suggests Ubisoft will unveil Rainbow Six Siege 2 at the Six Invitational 2025, scheduled for February 14-16 at the MGM Music Hall.

This purported sequel, codenamed "Siege X," reportedly utilizes a revamped engine boasting enhanced visuals, including overhauled textures and character models. Furthermore, the source claims Ubisoft plans to forgo returning temporary events from the original game in favor of entirely new experiences. A projected release date falls within the second season of the game's tenth year of support, placing it around mid-2025.

This contradicts previous statements by Rainbow Six Siege creative director Alexander Karpazis, who voiced skepticism about the need for a full sequel given the ongoing development of the current title. However, this leak implies a potential shift in Ubisoft's strategy.

It's crucial to approach such rumors with caution. Until official confirmation from Ubisoft, this information remains speculative.

Meanwhile, the Rainbow Six Siege World Championship, Six Invitational 2025, is rapidly approaching. Twenty teams will battle in Boston for a $3,000,000 prize pool and the championship title. Oxygen Esports, victors of the North American Last Chance Qualifier, secured the final qualifying spot.

This twenty-team competition presents a unique structure. While Ubisoft may retain a similar format to last year's—four round-robin groups of five teams, culminating in Double Elimination playoffs—alternative formats remain a possibility.

The anticipated playoff structure likely involves a first-place team bypassing the first round, fourth place entering the lower bracket, the remaining teams starting in the upper bracket, and the last-place team from each group being eliminated.
