Marvel Rivals Backtracks On Their Player Rank Reset

Dev Talk 11 Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments

Following fan backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision on player rank resets. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account announced a significant change to its seasonal rank adjustments, retracting their earlier plans outlined in Dev Talk 10.

Initially, the game planned to reset player ranks mid-season, causing players to drop four divisions every 45 days. This move was met with criticism from the community, who felt it was discouraging for those striving to climb the ranks.

In response, Dev Talk 11 confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will now retain their scores and ranks at the end of the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset remains, with players dropping down six divisions.

Human Torch, The Thing, And Other Updates Still On The Way

Despite the reversal on mid-season rank resets, Marvel Rivals continues to roll out other exciting updates. The introduction of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, is set to expand the roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has confirmed that two new characters will be added each season, which lasts three months.

Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will remain unchanged, with those achieving this rank receiving a free Invisible Woman costume. Players ranked Grandmaster and above will earn Crests of Honor. Additionally, new rewards at the end of the season for those reaching Gold rank include another free costume, while Grandmaster and above will receive additional Crests of Honor.

While balance adjustments are expected post the mid-season update, specific details about these changes have yet to be disclosed.
