Marvel Rivals Season 1: A New York City Nightmare
Marvel Rivals' first season continues to expand its content, introducing new maps themed around a gothic, vampire-infested New York City, alongside the Fantastic Four heroes and cosmetics. Let's explore the new additions to the game's map roster.
Launching with Season 1, Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown is a Convoy map designed for the game's payload mode. Players either escort or defend a moving vehicle across this dark, Dracula-infested version of Midtown Manhattan. This map joins Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path and Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands as the third Convoy map in Rivals. Key Points of Interest include iconic Marvel and real-world locations:
Also a Season 1 addition, this gothic rendition of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Santorum is the exclusive home of the Doom Match mode – a free-for-all deathmatch. Top performers earn wins, with the best player crowned MVP. This version of the iconic location, first appearing in a 1963 comic and famously featured in the MCU, is depicted with its characteristic mystical elements, including hidden secrets, impossible architecture, and even a visitable Bats the Ghost Dog.
Expected to arrive later in Season 1, this map features a stylized Belvedere Castle, situated at one of Central Park's highest points. Its Gothic architecture fits the "Empire of Eternal Night" theme, likely serving as a vampire lair within the game's version of New York City. The map's design draws inspiration from the park's numerous appearances in Marvel media, most recently in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (2023).
These are all the new maps currently planned for Marvel Rivals Season 1.
