Get ready for an exciting second season of Marvel Rivals as NetEase gears up to introduce new updates to team-up skills and unveil stunning new skins for Spiderman and Iron Man. Dive in to discover what's in store for the next chapter of this thrilling game.
In an insightful interview with PC Gamer on March 14, Marvel Rivals Game Director Guangyun Chen unveiled exciting plans for the game's upcoming Season 2. Chen emphasized, "Starting from Season 2, we will introduce new Team-Up skills with the seasonal update and adjust some existing ones. Together with seasonal overall balance adjustments, this will create a new combat environment and experience for the season."
Currently, Marvel Rivals boasts 17 team-up skills, including Ragnarok Rebirth for Hela with either Loki or Thor, Lunar Force for Cloak & Dagger and Moon Knight, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow. As the game's roster expands, balancing these team-up skills becomes increasingly challenging, making the upcoming changes highly anticipated by the community.
Chen further elaborated on the meticulous approach to balancing heroes in Marvel Rivals, especially as the game continuously introduces new characters. "First, we will closely monitor key metrics for heroes across different modes. For example, in Quick Match and Competitive Modes, we will analyze data such as win rates, pick rates, damage, healing, damage taken, and final blows for heroes at various ranks and in different tournaments. This data serves as the foundation for our balancing efforts," he explained.
He added, "At the same time, we will analyze the composition of hero lineups and their win rates within the aforementioned modes, which will be crucial references for our overall balancing direction. Finally, we will pay close attention to the player community as one of the bases for our balancing decisions."
Chen had previously shared with Metro in January that Marvel Rivals plans to introduce a new hero every half-season. With each season spanning approximately three months, this means eight new heroes will be added annually. As the game's roster grows, the challenge of maintaining balance becomes even more significant.
Looking ahead, Chen confirmed that the team is already working on future updates, stating, "The content for Season 2 is ready and set to go. The designs for Seasons 3 and 4 have also been completed and are currently under intensive development! Overall, everything is progressing smoothly." This commitment aligns with NetEase's promise to support Marvel Rivals for 10 years and beyond, ensuring fans can look forward to continuous, exciting updates.
On March 18, NetEase announced via Marvel Rivals' official Twitter (X) account that new skins for Spiderman and Iron Man will be available starting March 20 at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21 at 2:00 AM UTC. Spiderman's new skin, "Spider-Punk 2099," features a futuristic look with a digital mask, spiked mohawk, and an electric guitar. Iron Man's "Steam Power" skin embraces a steampunk aesthetic, complete with large exhaust pipes and a burning furnace on his torso.
These skins, previously showcased during the game's closed beta, have been eagerly awaited by fans. Following the release of Loki's Presidential attire from the beta, the introduction of these new skins adds to the game's allure. Although the release date for both skins has been announced, their prices remain undisclosed.
As Season 1 of Marvel Rivals draws to a close, NetEase is preparing for more updates and changes in Season 2. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for the latest updates on Marvel Rivals by following our coverage.
