Marvel has confirmed plans to bring Moon Knight back into the MCU, but a second season of the Disney+ series is unlikely. Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, told ComicBook that while Oscar Isaac's character will feature in future MCU projects, it won't be in the form of a direct sequel.
This shift in strategy reflects a change in Marvel Television's approach. Previously, the focus was on introducing characters through standalone shows before integrating them into larger MCU narratives (as seen with Ms. Marvel and The Marvels). Now, the emphasis is on creating self-contained series with annual releases, aligning more closely with traditional television production cycles.
Winderbaum stated, "I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future…moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.”
While Isaac voiced Moon Knight in Marvel’s What If…?, there's currently no announcement regarding his return in a live-action role.
The MCU's upcoming Disney+ show lineup includes Daredevil: Born Again (March), Ironheart (June), Eyes of Wakanda (August), Marvel Zombies (October), and Wonder Man (December). Recently, Marvel Television reportedly paused production on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc., but Winderbaum indicated that a potential reunion of the Defenders (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist) is being explored.
