Marvel's upcoming Vision Quest series is reportedly resurrecting a villain from the very first MCU film, Iron Man.
Deadline reports that Faran Tahir will reprise his role as Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, the Afghan terrorist leader who held Tony Stark captive in the opening scenes of the 2008 film. Nearly two decades later, he'll be making his MCU return. His betrayal by Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) marked his last appearance until now.
This unexpected comeback mirrors the return of Samuel Sterns from The Incredible Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World. While Vision Quest, starring Paul Bettany as White Vision, has no confirmed release date, al-Wazar's inclusion adds a significant layer of intrigue.
This retroactive connection establishes al-Wazar as a Ten Rings commander, potentially linking Vision Quest to the events of Shang-Chi. The open-ended nature of Shang-Chi suggests a possible narrative bridge.
However, Vision Quest might also embrace the more unconventional aspects of the MCU, similar to Deadpool & Wolverine's exploration of the discarded Fox Marvel universe. The series is also rumored to feature the return of James Spader as Ultron, marking his first appearance since Avengers: Age of Ultron. Details about the show remain scarce.
