Hirabami presents a formidable challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds, largely due to their preference for grouping up. To tackle this, arm yourself with Large Dung Pods. These can disperse the monsters, enabling you to face them individually and strategically.
These creatures are notorious for staying aloft, complicating melee combat. For those wielding ranged weapons like Bows, this isn't a problem. However, if you're a melee fighter, consider using Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo to ground them. If you're out of ammo, target Hirabami's tail to obtain a Tail Claw Shard, which can be converted into the needed ammo.
The Iceshard Cliffs, where Hirabami roams, are filled with environmental traps such as Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. Strategically using these to stun and damage Hirabami can turn the tide of battle in your favor.
The head is the prime target on Hirabami, though its habit of staying airborne makes it tricky. Ranged fighters can easily target this weak point, while melee users should aim for the neck when the beast descends. The torso, with its high defense, is less effective to hit.
Hirabami's unpredictable movements include biting, spitting, and dive-bombing from the sky. Dodge these by keeping an eye on the creature's head. However, be cautious of its tail, which it uses like a hammer. Constant movement and vigilance are key.

To capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds, reduce its health to 20% or lower, indicated by a skull icon next to its icon on the mini-map. Once at this threshold, set up a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap to immobilize it. Quickly follow with a Tranquilizer to knock it out; you only have a few seconds before it might escape. Capturing Hirabami ends the fight and nets you standard rewards, but it might limit your chances of obtaining extra materials from breaking its weak spots.
That’s everything you need to know about defeating and capturing Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds. Don't forget to bring Large Dung Pods or use the SOS feature to ease the battle.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
