If you're a fan of the robot role-playing series, you might be excited to hear about the new bullet heaven action game, Medabot Survivors. However, there's a catch—it's currently only available in Japan on iOS and Android. Set to launch on February 10th, this new addition to the Medabots franchise brings the beloved series back to mobile, but unfortunately, it's not accessible worldwide yet.
As reported by Gematsu, Medabots might ring a bell for those of us who grew up during the heyday of Pokémon's massive success. In the wake of Pokémon's popularity, there was a significant push to bring various Japanese franchises with merchandising potential to the West. While Digimon became a household name, and some might argue it even rivals Pokémon, Medabots never quite managed to capture the same level of attention outside of Japan.
In its home country, however, Medabots has been a major powerhouse. It's not quite world-beating, but it's certainly more popular than it ever was in the West. It's no surprise then that the franchise is now venturing into the Survivors-like genre, although for now, Medabot Survivors remains exclusive to Japan.
**Surviving Survivors**
While the term "Survivors-like" might be relatively new, the genre itself has been around for much longer than the flagship game, Vampire Survivors. The release of Medabot Survivors is not only a treat for fans but also noteworthy as we observe this genre spreading globally.
Having been introduced to the Japanese gaming scene, I can confirm there are many great releases that unfortunately might never make it to other markets. However, if Medabot Survivors proves to be a hit, there's hope that it might eventually become available worldwide.
