Team Ninja has unleashed a significant update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, boosting it to version 1.0.7.0 and introducing highly anticipated features like New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and more. This patch, promised in January to address community feedback, is now live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store).
New Game Plus allows players to embark on a fresh playthrough at any previously conquered difficulty level, retaining all previously acquired weapons and Ninpo. However, these items will revert to Level 1, and progression to higher difficulties isn't immediately available via New Game Plus.
A welcome quality-of-life improvement lets players conceal their projectile weapon. Access the Options menu, then Game Settings, to toggle the "Show Projectile Weapon" option.
Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage boost for some of Ayane's attacks.
Numerous bug fixes are also included, targeting high-performance PC issues, game-breaking glitches in specific chapters, and more. The complete patch notes are detailed below.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a surprise January release during the Xbox Developer Direct, is a remastered version of the acclaimed action title, leveraging Unreal Engine 5 for enhanced visuals, new playable characters, and improved combat mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised its visual improvements over Sigma 2, while noting some alterations to enemy health and numbers.
