Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki displayed a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has issued a statement clarifying the situation. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's confirmation that the images and videos circulating are unofficial. The company explicitly stated that Genki's showcased hardware is not an official Nintendo Switch 2 and was never supplied by them.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and video game console accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz by presenting the 3D-printed model and allegedly revealing a release date to journalists and attendees. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup of the console.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo has remained tight-lipped about official details regarding the Switch 2, only confirming plans for a future announcement and the console's backwards compatibility with Switch 1 games. This recent denial suggests Nintendo may feel compelled to accelerate their official reveal of the next-generation console.
