Capcom Unveils New Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay Featuring Miyamoto Musashi

Capcom has treated fans to fresh gameplay footage of its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The reveal, showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, not only offered a glimpse of the exhilarating sword-based combat and imposing enemies but also confirmed the legendary Miyamoto Musashi as the game's protagonist.

PlayThe trailer highlighted Musashi's unmatched swordsmanship, alongside a glimpse into his mischievous and humorous personality. Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Interestingly, Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the late Toshiro Mifune, a renowned Japanese actor known for his portrayal of Musashi in various samurai films.

The game's setting is Kyoto, besieged by a malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning demonic entities from the underworld into Japan.
