Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's Global Server Closure Announced
Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced the end of service (EOS) for the global version of their mobile RPG, Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. This comes just over a year after the game's January 2024 global launch. The Japanese version, launched in September 2023, will continue operation.
Closure Date:
The global server will shut down on March 28th, 2025 – ironically, the same month the Japanese version celebrates its 1.5-year anniversary. Global players will conclude their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1), while Japanese players progress through Chapter 22 (Part 2).
In-Game Purchases and Future Content:
In-game purchases are already disabled. However, players can still utilize any remaining Lodestar Gems until the server closure. Koei Tecmo promises additional content and events leading up to the shutdown.
Reasons for Closure:
The developers cited an inability to maintain a satisfactory player experience as the primary reason for the closure. The game struggled to gain traction, with player complaints surfacing about the gacha system, gameplay, monetization, and excessive power creep shortly after launch.
Final Thoughts:
While the global version's short lifespan is disappointing, players can still access the game on the Google Play Store to enjoy any remaining content before the servers go offline. The news serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by mobile games in a competitive market.
