"New Predator Unveiled in 'Badlands' Trailer: Distinctly Different"

The iconic extraterrestrial hunter returns in the highly anticipated sci-fi action sequel, Predator: Badlands. The teaser trailer, now available online, introduces us to Elle Fanning's character, who appears to be navigating the perils of a distant future planet. This new installment hints at a unique twist: the Predator she encounters is unlike any before, potentially even serving as the protagonist. The teaser boldly declares, "The director of Prey welcomes you to a world of pain," setting the stage for an intense cinematic experience.

In addition to showcasing a new type of Predator, the trailer includes nods to the Alien universe, sparking speculation that Badlands might be setting the stage for a new Aliens vs Predator film. Elle Fanning's character exhibits the distinctive Weyland Yutani reboot effect in her eyes, similar to the synthetics in Alien: Romulus, suggesting she might be an android. Furthermore, a damaged vehicle in the trailer bears the Weyland Yutani logo, the notorious corporation central to the Alien franchise.

Predator: Badlands was first announced in February 2024, with its release date confirmed in October of the same year. The trailer premiered exclusively at CinemaCon earlier this month, marking the first public glimpse into the film's narrative.

20th Century Studios unveiled the official synopsis at CinemaCon: "In the future on a remote planet, a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary."

Elle Fanning shared some exciting insights at CinemaCon, stating, "Something unprecedented happens in this movie. My character is not the one being chased. My character actually teams up with the Predator. And you get to see him in a completely new light. And... I'll stop there!"

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for his work on 10 Cloverfield Lane and the Predator prequel Prey, Predator: Badlands was co-written by Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison. The film is slated to hit theaters on November 7, 2025, promising fans a fresh and thrilling addition to the Predator saga.
