It’s through these formidable mobs that you can obtain the highly sought-after Riding Turtle and Sea Turtle mounts. Before embarking on this angling journey, you’ll need to achieve the Draenor Angler achievement by catching 100 of each Enormous Fish species in Warlords of Draenor.

This achievement unlocks the blueprint for a level 3 garrison fishing shack, which anecdotal evidence suggests is essential for catching these elusive fish. Even with the shack, the drop rate for these fish is around 3%, but you can improve your odds by equipping top-tier gear and using powerful boosts.

Why Now Is the Time to Strike

Previously, only the player who first tagged the Cave Dweller could claim the rewards, making it a solitary endeavor. However, the latest patch has changed this dynamic, allowing raid groups of up to 40 players to share the Cave Dweller spoils. This update makes fishing in WoW not only more communal but also more rewarding.

As a result, the chances of obtaining those rare mounts have significantly increased. Before, the odds involved overcoming a 3% fishing drop rate followed by a 0.5% Cave Dweller drop rate. Now, with up to 40 additional chances, these odds are much more favorable.

It’s worth noting that you don’t need the Draenor Angler achievement to join a raid. However, group leaders might be hesitant to include you if you can’t contribute to the loot potential. If you can't catch your own carps and minnows, you might be seen as leeching off the group, which can be frowned upon. Nevertheless, it’s beneficial to search for a welcoming group or even form your own, considering the potential rewards at stake.
