According to journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed Rocksteady Studios is developing a brand-new single-player Batman game. Details are scarce, with no confirmation whether it's a prequel, sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely new universe. However, an insider claims it's Batman Beyond, set in a futuristic Gotham, and planned as a full trilogy for next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could be Rocksteady's most impressive yet. The Batman Beyond setting also addresses the challenge of replacing the iconic voice of Kevin Conroy, who passed away in 2022. This shift allows the spotlight to fall on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, similar to Warner Bros. Montreal's plans for the canceled Arkham Knight sequel.
Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch content and a rushed animated conclusion that retconned controversial plot points, revealing fallen heroes to be clones.
Now, Rocksteady returns to its strengths with a new solo Batman adventure. However, sources suggest this project is still years from release.
