Ryan Reynolds Explains Deadpool's Solo Status

Ryan Reynolds has cast doubt on the possibility of Deadpool joining the Avengers or the X-Men, suggesting that such a move would signify the character's "end." Despite the success of Deadpool & Wolverine and the character's desire to join the Avengers within the film, Reynolds believes that making Deadpool a part of either team would be too much of a wish fulfillment.

Last month's Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal showcased a significant presence of veteran X-Men actors, including Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden. This lineup has led to speculation that Avengers: Doomsday might secretly be an Avengers vs. X-Men movie. Notably, Reynolds' name was absent from the list of confirmed stars, and Channing Tatum, who played Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, was included.

Reynolds emphasized to Time that integrating Deadpool into the Avengers or X-Men would not be suitable, stating, "If Deadpool becomes an Avenger or an X-Man, we're at the end. That's wish fulfillment, and you can't give him that." However, he hinted at the possibility of a surprise cameo, citing the positive reception to Wesley Snipes' appearance as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine.

As for Deadpool's future, Reynolds is currently working on a new project involving an "ensemble," though he kept details under wraps. This could potentially lead to another Deadpool film featuring numerous cameos, similar to Deadpool & Wolverine. Characters like Snipes' Blade, Channing Tatum's Gambit, Jennifer Garner's Elektra, and Dafne Keen's Laura Kinney/X-23 might return.

Anthony Mackie, reprising his role as Sam Wilson/Captain America, recently expressed optimism about the film, suggesting it would recapture the classic Marvel feel. Other cast members like Paul Rudd and Joseph Quinn have also shared their excitement.

A supposed set photo leak from Avengers: Doomsday has stirred the MCU fandom, with some believing it hints at negative developments for the X-Men. Additionally, speculation about Oscar Isaac's potential appearance as Moon Knight in Avengers: Doomsday has arisen due to his withdrawal from the Star Wars Celebration event.

Kevin Feige, a producer at Marvel Studios, confirmed during a CinemaCon video call that the Avengers livestream did not reveal the entire cast of Doomsday, stating, "We revealed many, not all."
