EA and Maxis are marking the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting announcement: both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are now available on PC again through two Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle. This re-release is a dream come true for fans eager to dive back into the classics.
EA has launched The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, available today on PC. These collections can be purchased separately or as part of The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for just $40. Each game comes packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but otherwise, you're getting everything. Plus, each collection includes bonus content: The Sims 1 features the Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 comes with the Grunge Revival Kit, adding even more value to these nostalgic packages.
EA's decision to re-release these beloved titles marks the first time in over a decade that both games have been readily accessible. The Sims 1, previously only available on disc, posed a challenge for modern players without access to old physical copies. Similarly, The Sims 2, last seen in 2014 as an Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, became unavailable after the collection was discontinued. Now, with these new Legacy Collections, all four The Sims games are easily purchasable and playable through digital storefronts, making it easier than ever to revisit these timeless classics.
When we first reviewed them, The Sims 1 received a stellar 9.5/10, while The Sims 2 earned an impressive 8.5/10. Though the series has evolved with numerous new features and improvements, the original games remain cherished for their unique charm, simplicity, challenge, and the legacy they've built.
You can grab The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection right now on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app. Don't miss your chance to relive the magic of these iconic games.
