Stellar Blade Shift Up Slips Up with DLC Update

Stellar Blade's highly anticipated Photo Mode and NieR: Automata DLC update, while exciting, unfortunately introduced some game-breaking bugs. However, developer Shift Up assures players a hotfix is in the works. Let's delve into the details.

Stellar Blade Update: Game-Breaking Bugs and the Hotfix

A Hotfix is on the Way

Stellar Blade's Patch 1.009, bringing the much-requested Photo Mode and the NieR: Automata collaboration DLC, also unleashed some frustrating bugs. Players reported being softlocked during a main quest in an earlier dungeon, unable to progress. Others experienced crashes when using the Photo Mode's selfie camera, and some new cosmetic items failed to render correctly on Eve.

Shift Up is actively developing a hotfix to address these issues. They advise players against forcing quest progression, recommending patience until the hotfix arrives. Attempting to bypass the problem could lead to a permanent softlock, even after the patch is released.

Patch 1.009 delivers a substantial content update, headlined by the NieR: Automata collaboration! The developers highlighted on the PlayStation Blog that NieR: Automata was a significant inspiration for Stellar Blade. This collaboration, born from mutual respect and creativity between Director Kim Hyung Tae and Director Yoko Taro, has yielded impressive results. To acquire the 11 exclusive collaboration items, seek out NieR character Emil, who's set up shop within Stellar Blade's world.

The highly anticipated Photo Mode has finally arrived, allowing players to capture stunning images of Eve and her companions. New photo challenges further enhance this feature. Complementing Photo Mode, Eve receives four new outfits and a new accessory (unlocked after completing a specific ending) that alters the appearance of Tachy Mode. A "No Ponytail" option has also been added to the settings, providing more customization for Eve's look. Additional improvements include lip-sync support for six more languages, enhanced projectile auto-aim and bullet magnet functions for the instant death skill, and various smaller bug fixes for a smoother overall experience.
