Activision has revealed a new crossover event for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone, bringing back the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This isn't the first time these heroes have graced an Activision shooter.
While specifics regarding the collaboration's content and launch date (described only as "soon") remain undisclosed by Activision, the CODWarfareForum website has leaked some unverified details.
Reportedly, the crossover will feature operator skins for all four turtles (though notably absent are April O'Neil, Master Splinter, and Shredder). New melee weapons are also rumored, including a skateboard, katana, nunchucks, and a staff. The Grind map, a skatepark, is expected to be a central location for crossover events.
However, fan reaction has been muted, not due to a lack of popularity for the TMNT franchise, but rather due to the current state of Black Ops Cold War. The game's struggles with bugs and rampant cheating have significantly diminished its player base. This collaboration, therefore, feels ill-timed, leaving many questioning its impact and ultimate success.
