Inspired by the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, Tides of Annihilation casts players as Gwendolyn, a young woman fighting alongside spectral knights to save her family and mend a fractured world.
The game unfolds in a ravaged, modern-day London, overrun by a mysterious otherworldly invasion. Hordes of enemies swarm the streets, forcing Gwendolyn and her team into desperate battles. The game's primary antagonists are colossal, roaming knights, demanding intense, acrobatic combat as players scale these behemoths to engage in thrilling confrontations.
While visually stunning, Tides of Annihilation suffers from a familiar narrative. Recent soulslike games have successfully reimagined classic stories; Journey to the West's Western obscurity provided novelty, and Lies of P offered a surprising twist on Pinocchio. However, the Arthurian legend, frequently revisited, leaves Tides of Annihilation, despite its visual appeal, lacking a truly unique selling point.
