Ubisoft Confirms More “Driver” Projects After Cancelation of Show Adaptation

Ubisoft has confirmed to Game File that the planned live-action adaptation of its acclaimed Driver series will not proceed. Initially announced in 2021 for exclusive streaming on Binge.com, the project was part of Ubisoft's broader initiative to expand its franchises into new media. As Ubisoft Film & Television head Danielle Kreinik stated at the time, the goal was "to bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming."

However, the partnership with Binge ended due to the closure of Hotrod Tanner LLC, a movie-related subsidiary named after the Driver protagonist, in January. A Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed to Game File, "We are no longer moving forward with our partnership with Binge for a Driver series."

Despite this setback, Ubisoft assures fans that the Driver franchise remains a priority. They are "actively working on other exciting projects related to the franchise" and promise further announcements in the future. Specific details about these new projects are currently unavailable, but fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates.
