World of Warcraft China is introducing two new mounts: the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar. These stunning mounts are re-interpretations of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, previously only obtainable through exceptionally difficult raid encounters. While currently exclusive to China, their arrival marks another exciting development since the renewal of the NetEase and Blizzard partnership last year, bringing World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 back to Chinese players. This follows other celebratory additions like the Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the teleporting Xiao Liu pet.
These new mounts, available from January 15th, will be obtainable through separate promotions. The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, visually similar to its predecessor, boasts auspicious clouds within its wings while in flight – a symbol of peace, immortality, and good fortune in Chinese culture. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a gilded version of the original, includes a stylish black saddle and evocative flavor text referencing Kael'thas Sunstrider's iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotional Mounts:
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is rewarded through an event called the Treasure Workshop, details of which are yet to be fully revealed. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, however, is obtainable from Landro's Loot Box, costing ¥200 (approximately $27). This loot box contains one of eight items, including other prestigious rewards such as the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the exceptionally rare Swift Spectral Tiger (from the discontinued World of Warcraft TCG). Players can team up to purchase loot boxes, earning bonus crates upon reaching spending milestones.
Currently, there's no indication these mounts will be released internationally. For now, players outside China can only admire these magnificent additions to the World of Warcraft collection.
