Bandai Namco Unveils Digimon Alysion: Digital Card Game

Bandai Namco is gearing up to bring Digimon to mobile gamers worldwide with Digimon Alysion, a digital adaptation of the beloved Digimon Card Game. Set to launch on both Android and iOS, the game will be free-to-play, though an exact release date remains unconfirmed.

The official announcement came during Digimon Con 2025, held on March 19th. In addition to unveiling Digimon Alysion, the event also shared updates on Digimon Liberator, which will introduce a new arc starting in April 2025. Fans were treated to a special video commemorating the Digimon anime's 25th anniversary, along with hints at future projects such as Digimon Adventure: Beyond and a new RPG titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, slated for consoles and PC.

While Digimon Alysion draws inspiration from its tabletop counterpart, it introduces several unique elements. The game features 'DigiAly' cards, which are exclusive to the digital version, alongside traditional cards designed specifically for this platform. Bandai Namco is also incorporating new Digimon and characters into the mix. However, this approach has sparked some skepticism among fans, particularly regarding the game’s departure from a more authentic representation of the physical card game. Additionally, the predominantly female character lineup has raised eyebrows, as it diverges from expectations for a card-based title.

This marks Bandai Namco’s third attempt at creating a successful Digimon mobile game, following two previous efforts that did not meet with favorable outcomes. Despite this history, anticipation remains high for Digimon Alysion. A closed beta test is reportedly in the works, though further details remain undisclosed.
