Played by four players in fixed partnerships, Twenty-Nine uses 32 cards (removing 20 cards from a standard deck). The ranking within each suit is: Jack, Nine, Ace, Ten, King, Queen, Eight, Seven. Bidding determines the trump suit and the target score. Gameplay proceeds counter-clockwise, with players following suit or playing a trump if unable to follow suit.
Point values are as follows:
- Jacks: 3 points each
- Nines: 2 points each
- Aces: 1 point each
- Tens: 1 point each
- King, Queen, Eight, Seven: 0 points
The winner of each trick leads the next, and the final score is based on the point values of cards captured.
