Capcom has subtly teased Resident Evil 9 in a recent video celebrating the milestone of 10 million players for Resident Evil 4. The video, uploaded by the Resident Evil 4 development team on social media on April 25, features Ada Wong conversing with a notorious villain, followed by a scene of Leon surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats, heading towards a church.
The video takes a playful turn with Dr Salvador strumming a chainsaw as if it were a guitar, accompanied by a rock song, and then shifts to a fist-pumping Leon in front of a rustic "Thank you for playing" sign. The full video can be viewed below:

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that when the "Thank you for playing" sign is turned on its side, the boards resemble the Roman numeral "IX," which stands for the number 9. While some might dismiss this as a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that the lower plank on the sign, crucial for forming the "IX," was absent in earlier parts of the video, suggesting it was intentionally added.
"I know what you did here," said one surprised commenter, adding a wide-eyed emoji for emphasis.
Capcom has also confirmed that the upcoming mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, believed to be Resident Evil 9, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7.Nakanishi said at the time, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest the setting might be an island inspired by Singapore, though this has not been officially confirmed.
