Microids announces the autumn release of Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, a modern reimagining of the 1994 classic, across all major gaming platforms. This updated version retains the original's charm while incorporating significant 21st-century enhancements. The original Little Big Adventure was developed by Frederick Raynal's team at Adeline Software International, a company comprised largely of Infogrames alumni. While Adeline, responsible for both Little Big Adventure and its sequel, is now defunct, Microids, currently developing a new Totally Spies game, is publishing this remake.
Development of Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest is spearheaded by 2.21, a rising studio. Microids' new trailer showcases the game's revitalized visuals and improved gameplay, promising a faithful yet enhanced experience. Key features include a compelling narrative, redesigned level layouts and controls, an upgraded version of Twinsen's signature weapon, a fresh artistic style, and a new soundtrack composed by the original's composer, Philippe Vachey, a collaborator with Raynal on the Alone in the Dark series.
Set on the planet Twinsun, home to four harmonious species, the game's story unfolds when Dr. Funfrock's inventions of cloning and teleportation disrupt this peace. Taking control, Funfrock subjugates Twinsun's inhabitants, forcing Twinsen to embark on a challenging adventure filled with complex puzzles and formidable enemies. Twinsen's mission: defeat Dr. Funfrock and liberate Twinsun.
Following a 2011 GOG.com re-release for PC and Mac, and later Android and iOS ports, rumors of a new Little Big Adventure title surfaced in 2021. This announcement, made via co-creator Didier Chanfray (of Time Commando fame), revealed the formation of 2.21. Their efforts culminate in Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, launching this year on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG).
